About

Below you'll find a little information about me and this website.

About Me

Check out the moustache!

My name is Andreas Lagerkvist. I'm a web developer born in Hong Kong, raised in Sweden and currently living in -London, UK where I work for Yahoo! as a front-end web developer- Stockholm where I freelance from home :)

Exscale.se is my online playground. A place where I can put my ideas and creations and also develop all the new cool stuff I learn daily through my work and from web professionals over the web like the people in my blog roll.

When I'm not at work or working on this site I like to play snooker, watch films or go to the pub ;). I did quite a lot of 3D-stuff before, hence the 3D-section, but I haven't done anything in some time now.

If you want more details you can also find me on LinkedIn.

Places I've Been

I did quite a lot of traveling before I started working a full-time job. I still love traveling and hope that in the future I'll be able to do more of it.

Here's a list of places I've been to.
And if you have Javascript enabled there should a little map too.
Please note that dates and locations (if the map is there) (or if CSS is off (you'll see some geo-data)) aren't 100%. Some of the islands weren't named on the Yahoo! Maps (which I used to retrieve the GEO-data) and I don't really remember the dates to the day. Also, I haven't marked up every place I've been to, just the bigger cities. Nevertheless, here it is:

About the Site

The site's name, "exscale studios", is a few years old. Originally it was a mate and mine's programming-group but we never really programmed anything as a group so I took the name for my personal website instead.
I came up with the name "exscale" while working on a basic image-resizing-function in C many years ago where I had a variable called YScale and another called XScale. I thought XScale sounded kind of cool at the time (mind you, this was before the new millenium) so I slapped an "e" in front of it and took it as my own. A couple of years later Intel released a processor called "xscale", I thought that was kind of funny.

Geeky Stuff

Exscale.se runs on aBlog, a blogging software built on top of my framework, aFrameWork (I know, I'm rubbish at coming up with names for things).
I'm constantly working on improving aFrameWork as well as aBlog and plan to eventually release it/them to the public, but there is still quite a lot of work to be done. For one I don't even have an admin, I'm writing this in PHPMyAdmin!
If you want some geeky information, try adding ?debug to any URL.

Accessibility

I've done the best I can to make the site as accessible as possible to everyone, regardless of browsing device. Please let me know if you find anything you believe can be improved.

Alternative Styles

There are two high contrast styles available, white on black and black on white.
You can also choose from a range of other styles should you not like the one currently selected. The Style Switcher allows you to switch style and can be accessed from any page.

Print and handheld stylesheets are also included on this page to ease your mobile browsing and printing-needs.

Accesskeys

Exscale.se does not use accesskeys due to the known issues with doing so.

Web Standards

This site is built using XHTML 1.0 Strict for structure, CSS for presentation and JavaScript (together with the lovely jQuery) for behavior.
A modern browser like Firefox is required to make the most out of this site but should your device not support one of these layers it will still have access to everything thanks to the use of progressive enhancement throughout the entire site.

Contact Information

I use ICQ (26557799) and MSN (sk8ant {at} hotmail {dot} com), I also have an email but to avoid filling my inbox with spam I'd rather you use my contact form if you want to email me.

XML Feeds

If you want to stay up to date with what's goin on on exscale.se you can subscribe to my RSS-feed.

I Like Cookies

Thanks to Swedish law, Swedish websites that use cookies have to inform its visitors, so here we go:

When you vote on exscale.se's poll a cookie is set so that you won't be able to vote again on the same poll. Rating an article will also store a cookie so that you will not be able to rate the same article twice. Knowing this you can obviously delete your cookies and vote or rate as many times as you like :P

Not only that, there's another cookie keeping track of which style you prefer. Do you think you can handle that, or do you need help shutting down cookies in your browser?

Thanks for Visiting!

Thanks for reading, check the archives for a lot more.
If you would like to leave a comment that's not related to any particular post please use the guest book. That's right, exscale.se still has a guest book!
